DIGITAL INFLORESCENCE

Digital Florescence is an interactive and relaxant artwork, inspired by British textile designer William Morris whose work brought the outside natural world, into the inside of people’s living spaces.
The concept is to create a growing digital tapestry with the help of lights and prisms, that evolves with the visitor’s movement, celebrating nature and the idea of blossoming within the space.

For a project like this one, the main challenge was to ensure that all the mechanical parts were perfectly assembled and adjusted together. The site-specific location of the artwork makes it very difficult to install and access. We had to design a complete adaptable system, with panels mounted on pistons, to open and close the artwork when required.

The combination of motors linked to metallic parts that make fragile glass prims rotate all together, at the same time, was the critical element that we had to focus on during the installation of this project.

Having the possibility to do a full test build in advance for this project, really helped flag all the mistakes and possible areas we could improve at the end.
